Homeowners

CatesLab provides testing services for homeowners. We can test materials from your home for asbestos and/or mold.

We would be glad to be your testing laboratory and ask that you please follow the sampling guidelines below for submitting samples for testing. 

Asbestos Sampling

 

  • Fill out Homeowners Chain of Custody

  • Sample size of material to be tested should be 1-2 square inches (include mastic/adhesive w/flooring)

  • Use small freezer Ziploc bags (air tight) for each sample or material type (each sample in separate bag labeled w/sharpie on bag)                 please note: do NOT put Chain of Custody inside of a bag that contains a sample to be tested

  • Ship samples in box if possible (address below)

  • Include payment with Chain of Custody (call us if you would rather pay by credit card over the phone)

Mold Sampling

 

  • Fill out Homeowners Chain of Custody

  • Sample size of material to be tested should be 2-4 square inches (take separate samples for mold growth that appears different in color & bag each sample separately)

  • Use small freezer Ziploc bags (air tight) for each sample or material type (each sample in separate bag labeled w/sharpie on bag)                 please note: do NOT put Chain of Custody inside of a bag that contains a sample to be tested

  • Ship samples in box if possible (address below)

  • Include payment with Chain of Custody (call us if you would rather pay by credit card over the phone)

Cates Laboratories (CatesLab) will perform the requested analysis using accepted industry-standard practices. We can take no responsibility for the locations sampled or sampling techniques.
